Haemorrhoids
What are haemorrhoids?
Varicosities of the rectal veins are known as haemorrhoids (piles). They are caused from either a genetic weakness of the veins, pregnancy or from prolonged periods of standing or sitting.
Initially contained within the anus (first degree), they gradually enlarge until they prolapse or extend outward on defecation (second degree) and finally remain prolapsed all the time (third degree).
